The Merry Christmas

If Christmas is a big family gathering that you look forward to each year that is a good thing!

It has been cold this Christmas and it has kept our small family indoors.

The twinkle tour is a yearly outing. It is created at our regional park just out of the city.  Lots of hard work to get this up each year.

Christmas is going well. I had to stop and take a selfie just to get grounded. It helps.
My son is an artist. He is building Sonic the hedgehog with paper  mache.  Checkout his you tube channel named Tommy’s Puppet Lab.  He brought his paper mache puppet to craft while visiting us.
The crib games are always on.

I love making pita chips (and eating them).  Recipe is:
just pita bread sliced into triangles and put olive oil parsley garlic salt oregano pepper on top bake in oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 minutes.

Merry Holidays and Happy new Year!

A video of myself is a great way to critique my cues to my horse.
I'm good with this ride this afternoon!

Have you ever needed to go through and clean up files
and pictures on your laptop or phone and a couple of
gems show up!

here is mine....

and trained all on his own
and sold to a neighbour when we sold our acreage in Swift Current.

Tom, my son took this video of me just a couple of weeks after we moved
to the Yorkton acreage and we set up the trampoline

Hilarious and I don't think I could do these moves now.

SLAM

Yorkton Arts Council put on the 3rd Annual
StorySLAM night and...... wait for it---wait for it--

I won the competition!

Here is my StorySLAM
story (you only get 5 minutes and then you are gonged!)

What The Health?  StorySLAM Oct 2018

NUMBER 41 PLEASE!!  i look at my ticket number it's number 65! sigh

Im in admissions at a hospital.   The anticipation of how fast my number will be called is undeterminable.

  - Health.  My health relies on numbers sometimes.

Lately it seems every time I walk into a hospital and they have a ticket number counter that you have to pull a piece of paper or the ticket and it has a number.   It is supposed to easily tear off.  I pull too quick and it gives me 5 ticket numbers (embarassed)

The next time I go it happens to me again.  It's like i need to be trained somehow at pulling a ticket out of these counter machines.  Sheesh

yes what the heck?  what the Health?  i am back in school.  I take tests and I fail alot.  What is up with that I ask?  4 times a year I go to a hospital lab and I take a number and wait for my specific number to be called.  Then they make sure I have my wrist tag on and it is actually me.  Okay Kindergarten memories

Go pee in a bottle?  sounds fun, how many times have I done this?  the fun in that is I get to carry my bottle of pee and put it in the fridge with other pee bottles.

I sit down and wait and then my name is called and they look at my wrist name tag, oh I mean

wrist bracelet - yes Ill call it that. Sounds better.  You are Donna yes and your birthdate is yes...

Kindergarten.  The time for taking blood is up on me and then they ask me an intelligent question

like …which arm?  I say right arm only.  (i’m experienced i’ve done this before)

Oh and I have an instruction sheet that the doctor prints off for me every year and I have to hang onto that sheet and pass it the hospital every 3 months to the lab ‘techs’.  Its like here is my page of squares and check marks. I hope I pass this time!

I feel like I have done something wrong?

Am I bad if I have high blood pressure and then oops I also have high blood sugar? No not really, but I feel that way quite often.

Lets get back to this health life Im practicing to improve.  I have quality of life now.

I want to pass all my lab numbers.! I sit in the doctor's office and wait for him to pop up my lab results on his computer screen and tell me if I passed or failed for my blood pressure then cholesterol and then blood sugar   He gives me the numbers (again more numbers) I need to study harder!  eat better, exercise and make sure my body can move and perform all that is required in exercise and daily life.

Now what about exercise.  Is sitting in a yogi seated position an exercise or maybe standing in the kitchen preparing food for meals?  No not enough.  Say what?  Speed up my metabolism?  A big word and they say it means I am slowing down and too sedentary.  “Hello!  metabolism what is happening?” I never have been told you were a problem before”. “Now come on lets get this metabolism sped up!”

Do lots of walking but not sauntering (hmmm)…  oh I have to walk at moderate speed for 30 minutes fast enough that it is somewhat harder to talk to someone beside you - (being a little bit out of breath)  got it ...panting but oh!  only for a mere 30 minutes and oh!  it says 5 days a week so that is 150 minutes a week.

I was told coffee speeds up metabolism.  Something to think about.  laughing.  well i know for a fact that socializing is very healthy and it is way easier to talk to someone and drink coffee beside me without panting.  Am I wrong?

i have to get my 30 minutes of exercise in so wait for me at coffee time.  Or better yet don't start socializing and having fun until I get there.

Now I am exercising several times a week and Im hungrier than ever.  What no bread/ Quinoa yes, Kale yes,  yogurt, (in moderation) and  ice cream no!,   Can I still drink coffee?  Yes coffee is good!  Water is good!  Watch the carbs as all those breads and potatoes convert to sugar once in my digestive system.  Sugary foods is sugar in my system but hello carbs!  What the Health are you doing to me.!

Horse Wiser

Friday I started my 3 day horse riding clinic! I’m done now and I take with me more confidence and love to share with my horse and others. Keeping my words to myself and to my horse only for gentle learning and letting the hard days of learning move me forward along with doing just a little ; doing less will show doing more, trust the process of each bit of time.

I took photos and these are all of them.  Videos were not allowed and when I and Brian were both
in the  same class it was impossible to get any riding shots.

it's okay.  You can laugh at my hat.  I never wear a cowboy hat.  However, this
weekend it was pouring rain and we were hauling saddles and boots and horses in and out
of the riding arena in pouring rain  This hat was awesome for keeping the rain off my face
and head. Otherwise I wear a ball cap style head gear.

Bottom of this picture is me in front of the pickup and it reflected a squished photo
of me (cool, real cool)

I knew I would be slow, slow,... getting my horse tack on Grace (previously named Bruschetta).
A slower process when she was very anxious and hard to keep standing in one place.
Next time I will be more "savy" at putting the bridal and bit in the mouth.  Tightening up
the cinch, chest band in place (that is my next goal)

My horse has a beautiful thick black mane.

This is the pen that Mr. Z and Bruschetta were in for 2 nights.
Mantracker and I went home and came back in the mornings. (a 35 min drive)

Mr. Z really wanted out of this pen on the last day,

Grace (Bruschetta) shared the pen with Mr. Z
She is 10 years old and Mr. Z is 4 years old.

This is my horse with the clinician.  A buckskin mare.  He had
to work with her quite a bit to settle her down.  She did not like
being around all the horses and pinned her ears back constantly the whole
time we were in the class.  Made me nervous;so double anxiety going for
the first day. Once he explained her situation and got her hind legs moving freer
and me letting her move with much looser rein and directing her; was the winning ticket!

This is John Tilley.  He was our clinician and lives at Leroy, Sask.
He was easy to be around and complimented riders whenever it was
necessary and earned.  I was very relaxed with his lessons.

Ride on. Ride on.

freeing

ready, set and short..!

I sat down with a young stylist today and
she said "so what's going on?  what are we doing?
got some ideas or pictures?

(well that was the right approach)

I want it short and textured and almost shaved
at the back of my head.

I am  letting the colour fade out and
leave it grey/gray (sp).

It is a very freeing cut, it is really who I am  too plus it keeps me
thinking youthful!

last year snaps

these photos
are from last year
and I was reviewing all my pics
to see what I can blog about

moments....
is what the following
pics gave me

yellow!  (day lily finally bloomed)

I felt very awesome wearing this outfit
(comfy, dynamic, pattern fun)

this makes me laugh
when I saw this pic
I seemed to keep scaring these cows
when I went for my walks down
grid road.  They would stop and stare and then
run off quite a distance to get away from me!

women's weekend retreat in Utah
says it all here and it was terrific to
hike with these hot rich ladies (type 3s)

Carol Tuttle, who is my counselor/psychologist in my life now and she gives more
healing and authenticity to her community as the only co-founder and creator of Dressing Your Truth, plus this
outfit was her best from the weekend in September!

I painted my all black Ariat cowgirl boots I purchased back
in 2010  They turned out a bit bronzed which I love!

drawing and colouring flowers was the most enjoyable and
productive in my art room this year.  I was so inspired by my
new flower bed.

this picture of my blue Goldstone pendant was a hit
on my "yourstory" instragram pics.  It went so well
with this plaid blouse

present time now with
ending this post with this young man...

the winter olympics' snowboard events are my favourite
and I am looking forward to the "big air" snowboard jumping
on Feb 23 and 24th.  Mark McMorris from Regina is
fun to follow.  I have him energy profiled as a soft, subtle, detailed
and connected type 2 man.  His natural nature is to be relaxed and easily connected to people as well  he is very detailed so his
technicality skills when snowboarding proves that.!
