women's weekend retreat!

Here are some photos that show just a tiny bit of our weekend with women and fashion and dancing and healing our guilt and for me it was about talking about gray hair styling.

I could use a bit more product in my hair to edge my style!

It was so fun and easy to travel with her!

we enjoyed our stay at the The Hilton Hotel and used the pool and outside

decks and we also walked around the downtown area and got to see

all the Comic Convention costumes that were walking down the street all the time

we were there.  I should of taken a pic of the Mad Hatter family walking down the street - very awesome costumes.

There will not be one next year to attend so hopefully in a couple of years she (Carol Tuttle) will put on another weekend retreat.  

the real world

we spent 2 days with our son

this weekend

he is a 28 year old man

with a disability of a hearing impairment,

who is living with responsibilities

as a landlord for his renters,

maintaining his mobile home,

working full-time

and driving and maintaining his vehicle,

and throwing in some fun whenever he can

Dad and Tom are replacing the boardwalk today

in his yard and doing it in the rainy cold weekend

to boot!  (I hunkered down inside, I got so chilled standing
out there.) 

Tom has been a volunteer for the annual Windscape Kite Festival in Swift Current since he started coming home from college in the

spring, so at least 5 years, He has helped with kite flying and crafts booth.

He had the perfect volunteer duty this summer as

the splatter paint wall coordinator

they featured his picture at the end of the day in the kite festival brochures and advertising

booklet.  

Tom had a car accident over a week ago and his car was undriveable when all was done, neither drivers were hurt in any way so he is

working through the SGI claims and repair process to get his vehicle back and to hopefully

get his driving safety record sorted out.

I recognize young adults, such as my son, who work hard to receive an

income and live to their full potential but who also deal with road blocks that are always a surprise and

stressful.  I want to give a big "hurrah" out to my son and others his age who are figuring things out and making some mistakes but

still stepping forward each day.

i took this picture on Sunday Sept 13th.  How much longer will the yellow last?

I hope for another month.

bought this when I took my mom to our step-by-step shoe store here in Yorkton

and what to my wondering eyes did i see - but a small shelf of 5 handbags all handpainted on this soft cow leather and of course this had a horse scene so it was a no-brainer.

hair care heart care

I get my haircut in Regina for the simple reason that I attempted to find a

new stylist here in Yorkton.  This did not happen. I went through 4 of them so 

for a 2 hour drive once a month to see my favourite Regina stylist is fun and rewarding;  and then I pop in to visit family and hit some good coffee shops with my siblings and head to Winners (sweet)
a nice  break.

so this month we were surprised when my mom

fainted in church last Sunday and has been in the

Cardiac Surveillance Unit at the Regina General since

with 

all the

tests  completed;  she finally received an Angiogram Friday
afternoon and then the cardiologist came upon a blocked artery before they even got to look at
her heart and valves.  They did stent surgery on that artery and that was that.
This will hopefully help with her fatigue and anxiousness these past
2 years.  She is well and appreciated her rest in hospital bed while waiting for all
cardiac tests to be completed.

Mom is home now and tired but happy.  I am thinking that
she will have her energy return in a few days.  Our family is encouraging
them to put their name in at the Wintergreen seniors complex in Regina.

My dad walked to the hospital every day as they live a few blocks away.  He got in shape a bit
after several trips.  They are both turning 86 at the end of summer.  Moving is an adjustment however I believe that there will be more relaxation and fun and daily services available in this complex.

Parenting your parents to ease into another phase of life.  It will work out!

its been a year

I retired/resigned from Innovation Credit Union a year ago

and what have I been up to this past year? you ask or may not ask?

{taking notes while looking at some modular homes  - tucking in more info just in case]

completed my facilitator support work with Griefshare at Eastside Church of God last May

involved myself in Young Living Essential Oils and presented myself with these oils at SC Market Square in Aug and Sept.  Great fun and opportunity to share and meet people!

attented a wedding in Ucluelet BC and visited 2 girlfriends in Qualicum BC and Nanaimo. Fantastic time! this was in July

put our acreage up for sale end of August

sold our acreage end of October - 1 week before the listing expired and we were sure that we would still winter at Kirkville.  surprise!

moved to Regina and landed there Dec 1 and the next day the -40 celsius weather began

began my physical -mental health journey on Dec 16 at Bodhi Tree Yoga in Regina and still doing it twice a week. This yoga stabilized my new life in the condo and kept me grounded and true to my decision to move and leave a 21 year financially secure job.   my 1st year of retirement/no career/no structured schedule or paycheque that previously establises my worth  is a unnerving process.  I was used to the credit union being my life and priority and when I left it was freeing however unnerving at times.

I did alot of painting on my own and some with other ladies and learned that
i love acrylic painting over watercolours.  Acrylic is easy to create texture and
dark deep colours faster.  So I like that,

our son just moved into his home and has a renter now to help with the payments (Yay!!)

we just moved his stuff a couple of weeks ago as alot of it was in storage at Jays Moving.

I have so many friend connections here in the Queen City that it is overwhelming but great!

the best is being close to all my family.

I am now working on my resume (thats alot of work) in case I need to

check out a job that sounds appealing.  Getting ready for a new lifestyle job is

work but I am enjoying the learning -  as alot of tips are available online and from friend connections in that field.  I now know that the cover letter is the most important to get right.

this is a new challenge and it is very good...Be Committed To Do Whatever It Takes to Have Want You Want. - BE  DO  HAVE!

counter at The Bay, bought a new foundation called 'Clinique Even Better"

and managed to walk out with nothing else. The Sales clerk tried to load

me up with cosmetics, she was very assertive!

with good friends, reading in the quiet afternoons. 

 those memories of years gone by to sadden and entertain me

I am blessed!

Changes

this 2nd week in city

is more real and we are having a withdrawal or 2 for

the big house and not seeing our horses outside our windows

it is -30 windchill on a steady basis here for the last week and

seems to continue for a few more days so

city life is very acceptable right now

my hand eczema has really improved and I will know for sure

in another week or so if the lotion I am using is a "winner" as it seems

my remedies are good for only one week and then the skin flares up again

so here is to the "sandalwood moisturizer" from Young Living Essential Oils it

has really smoothed out my skin so far and it has been 5 days (crossing my fingers)

still heading to the dermatologist in January as well...what a struggle!
