advancements enhancements

right now
the best thing ever is
this yellow petunia - glorious yellow!

...hubby edged my flower beds with
landscape ties and I love the look of bordering
flower beds with lumber

The 'man-about -the -house' is building a new front
step  and I have no idea
how it is going to look - (he has a plan, he has a plan!)

Can't wait to see the result, of course I help him along when he needs it and provide
lunches, coffee and water to sustain him.

handsome and handy

the "Red Green Show"  quote
something like this

"if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least
find you
handy"

I find my husband to be handsome as well
as very handy

He built this wall mounted ironing board
and it is very handy for me.  I just pull the dowel out on the side.....

... lift up the board
and slide the dowel in place holding it under
the upright board and it rests on the dowel

He is handy and handsome!

the yard early this morn

I got up so early this morning.
(like 5:30 a.m.)
Plunked my 1/2 awake body
on a lounger on the deck
and quickly grasped the
perfection of this moment;
July 15, 2017 and its beautiful landscape

Snapped these pics around our house;
next year we will look at these
and hopefully see our trees much taller
than they are now.

Kirkville Poetry

February finally;
I am so glad.
Days are longer.
I am not so sad.

Exercising is
more effort
this time of year.

As
knowing once its done
I have won
and had fun, working out
and being out!

I look at holiday pics,
on you-know-where?
Feeling envious
that,
I am not going anywhere.
Then I remember, the
energy it takes, to
travel there and
back.
I say "let them pack",
I'll do
my walking,
my writing,
my reading,
{lots of that}
as I sit back

Oh didn't you know?
I joined the local choir.
I sing once a week.
Every once in a while
there is a squeak!
That's me!

I visit my folks in
the Queen City,
My mother is
fighting old age.
My dad accepts it with
subtlety.

Hubby mucks about with
his horses;
good exercise, he says.
 Setting up training,
to keep them in line,
when it's horseback riding season
time.
He hauls the water,
forks hay,
mucks horse shelter stalls,
buys bales,
moves snow with his tractor,
everything on this
Yorkton frontier
is a factor!

It's easier to be a poet,
to tell of days going by.
Posting pictures
is easier than baking a pie (no like)
now I am getting silly
I can be a willy.

Be genuine be true!
in Canada we are!
I'm proud and happy to reside here
thus far!

For now Kirkville!

new things in

Christmas is lit up here now
this is a live Fraser Fir tree
healthy green strong branches
(it's a winner)

Hubby has been planning- building - cutting - and flooring and putting
up wallboard for our tiny little upstairs bathroom
it's been hard work because of the small space
and Brian is 6' 2"

The medicine cabinet is to be constructed yet, by hubby.  The
 vanity he built from scratch using Maple wood with natural stain finish;
the floor and wallboards installed by him as well
(I was there for supervision and to keep the loud strange words
from steaming up this little bathroom.  I had it under peaceful control)

the sink is a square bowl and the faucet tap is open at the top
and water flows openly into the bowl.  I have always wanted one of
those - it's cool!

the "before" picture
(the walls had lino glued on every inch of this
bathroom and poorly done at that)

He really worked had at this
reno and did a great job!

once again the neck

lookout window helps when
feeling sorry for myself
'cause I jammed up my neck
using a resistance band (can you believe it)

hurting bad and hoping the accupuncture needles
saves me,
at home I am putting on
 peppermint oil
and hubby came home with Aleve
and Lakota roll on pain relief ointment
this is helping quite a bit
also
I am doing my physio emergency exercise
foam roller
breathing exercises to relax my neck
meditation (body scan)
Dr. Ho

hope I sleep well tonight!

stressors out

we have been handling an issue with the purchase of
our home and acreage for the past year
and it has finally been resolved but not without a
poor relationship developed with the vendor
and extra funds $$$ poured out by us we had not planned for.
Once the shock that this money needed to be paid
and several conversations to understand why is now over.
Over and resolved but still has me wondering what happens to the
emotions and anxiety of working it out with strangers I am still holding
in my body.   We didn't win but we got our legal rebate $$.

It's like looking through the fence and seeing the other side
then when you are on the other side it just smells
like a dirty hole we were forced to climb through and rulings that was missed by our realtor
and our lawyer.
It is just money, but that line is getting old with me.

"Sunshine in and darkness out"

a change for my folks

my mom and dad
moved to a new senior's facility
this last week

the downsizing of  their
apartment to this facility required a tremendous
amount of purging of pictures, end tables, 90% of their kitchen equipment,
When the movers came on Friday they were not advised in their agreement
to pack anything.  Just to move the furniture.  My dad panicked
and phoned my brother as at 86 years old that is devastating news.
Mom and Dad had to make very quick decisions on what
to keep and what to take with their treasures on the walls on
shelves, they did not handle that easily and my brother and sister
came over quickly and got the boxes and started to pack everything.
my poor dad thought it was in the agreement to pack up everything.

Moving sucks, and we all think we have gotten rid of stuff and my folks
did do that but not nearly as much
as should of been done

anyhow nothing got packed a head of time and Dad constantly assured us
that the movers were doing it all.  Oh my, it is a good thing that it
did not happen that way and purging was done before they hauled all of it
 into their new suite!

I took the microwave, toaster oven, nesting tables, antique cutlery sterling silverware
set, a quilt, kitchen pottery, soup tureen, eagle antlers, spoon collections, etc

so being officialy moved in
we had tickets 2 days later to take mom to an early
Mother's day tea at the Regina Floral Conservatory

so that is how the the move ended up
and they already seem happy with the new
facility so I hope it continues that way.

Dad is still driving his jeep and he said I sure hope
I will still be driving for a few more years yet!  hmmm maybe?

a painting project

We are wanting a new front door
and bought a steel already primed door

We are painting it to a color we matched with
one on display at Home Depot

Brian and I are not "rock-star" painters so we are
taking our time with this because ...it's the front door!

steps to this as per Home Depot door expert are:

1. wash with TSP and water
2. then wipe with water
3. rub down door with rubbing alcohol then DO NOT TOUCH when done
4.  Paint the door, and all 6 sides as well as the door frame. This will prevent warping!

we have custom picked our glass insert (above)

2 coats on this side painted
Brian rolls the paint on with a foam roller after I have done the
trim and sides and hard to reach spots

I will post when we have our door installed!

this is not a post about.....

this is not a post about dropping friends out of my life.
It is all about getting the message intuitively that this is what needs to be done.  I recognize that some friends a long while back accepted me as their friend right away and I just fell into that relationship without recognizing the value that was not there for me.  I am living a newer life with a very different perspective.  Their lives were not pretty in the end and I got wrapped up and was working hard to understand why they just did not do anything about their mess.  It is none of my business and they are special people to other people and I will not judge them.  I will let them fall away.  I don't want to be a spider!

btw webs have been a real nuisance this summer on our windows and deck and chairs and I am always bumping into a new one

I have sprayed peppermint essential oil all over my deck and pressured washed the
front entrance twice.  Nature wins most of the time.

another building rises

this is the garden shed under construction

i love it when these 2 work together

a early birthday cake to nibble on this weekend it is
1/2 buttercreme and 1/2 chocolate (cake boss).
I bought this at our local co-op and it was in a "cake boss" box so I bought it and it was
really delish!

Artist Way at Kirkville

A creative surge has embraced our place this holiday season
Tom has taken up paper mache and is making
large mache animals!  very cool! He has been working on this in SC for a couple of
months and brought his art studio with him to finish up.

I think this is a creative way to get through winter and work through things in our
mind or at the very best to help forget things that bother you, I know it helps me to paint and write so Tom has really taken on a project here as the body and legs and feet are being worked on now
So satisfying to see him get this hands-on and bold about art!

Art is outside too and a walk through this
community pasture across from our acreage
is very interesting.  It goes on for miles and there
is a large lake in here as well.  (canoe and me and an extra paddler - yup!)

Art is everywhere and to hide the creative beauty
in us and around us is a loss we forget to take a photo or draw or write
or paint about.

ha!  the ghost of....

The cold weather has me bundled up in my "Value Village" $25 down-filled
coat and hood and neck warmer and toque and when the sun is shining and sky blue
the cold seems starkingly georgous to witness and is worth venturing out upon.

Happy 2015!

here is a poem written from the famous "Rumi" poet called

Just Do It

who can find a trace of you?
There isn't even a bit of dust from your track
who could find your home?
You have no home.

How can I praise you?
what can I say about you?
Foam is the only form in the sea of meaning.

A great, unseen town
lies just behind that curtain.
Our world is nothing compared to that.

Don't lower yourself.
Don't knock on every door.
You yourself are what you are looking for.

O heart, raise your tent up to the sky.
Don't say "I can't".
Sure you can. Just do it.

Rumi

Scents and Spirit

We bought a Christmas Tree today and we put it in the tree stand and added water
but the smell got very bad and it was the tree.
We had to put it outside  I couldn't believe it!
It was a Noble fir

I went back and got another tree and no smell.
It is a lovely fir tree with a beautiful scent. (see below)

it was mentioned on FB from someone that this had happened to them and that the bad smell
on a real Christmas tree could be protestors who spray live trees
to make them smell bad and only when they are warm in your house
does it start to stink.  They want to discourage people from buying
live trees.  What next? !!!!

keep the spirit!

condo mondo gone

we sold our little Regina home that served us quite well while spouse was working here for 2 years
I won't say we made any huge profit on it but it pays out our mortgage so no more
condo fees and mortgage payments.  The Regina housing/condo market really has hit a low so we are grateful to have a confirmed sale.
