hello to slowing down

I am feeling lost in this space the last week

I am ridiculously working hard to slow down...

working hard to slow down?

why is that hard?

I must keep my body moving and eat healthy

always a walk, or gym session to participate 

activities and horse riding

the grocery store is a regular stomping ground

when eating fresh fruits and vegetables, especially

that darn green salad.

The garden will help with that

soon

but then I can't keep up to the lettuce and it goes awry

Living takes work

I have type 2 diabetes and it causes some problems

if not regularly tended to

I have lab work done every 3 months and a doctor

visit to check my stats!  

anticipating the passing blood work number 

This is not a poem

about living as a Gnome

so keeping this more interesting

is only participating

in the thinking brain

I would like more soft subtler intelligent

words to put here

I don't have that gift

 I write in my MPS (morning pages)

most mornings

A mystery or two to read

A new author to check out

searching for a great read always

It feels like I am in touch with the simpler pages

of my day

 fresh paint on our walls

only select few pictures are now hung back up

having space is important now

keep the clutter extinct

my left foot is painful

I went to the doctor

arthritis? stress fracture?

metatarsal inflammation?

I'm okay but it is difficult practicing keeping it

real

my life to stay authentic

watching nature

is a genuine feeling of

"real"

taking breaths out as if blowing candles out on

a cake

Brian's 65th birthday on Thursday!

I have foot up to rest it several times a day

taking Magnesium Glycinate at bedtime to

calm the system and support healthy muscle function

Now off to the hospital for blood work

Gym training session this afternoon

loving my body 

my spirit lives in

not taking on other peoples negativity

 Irises are so fantastic when they bloom!

Rain came yesterday, for a short time, and I thank you for that.

I know more will come again at some point this spring.

 It was so much greener and fresh in our yard, I thought

changing photos as black and white would be fun.,  Flowers, not so much,.

They need to show their beautiful colours.

We can't imagine an acreage without a tractor and it's front end loader,

 and a snow blower, picking up bales,  harrowing the garden,

weed control with a sprayer.  Nope! Just can't imagine life out here without
these pieces of equipment.

Attachments to tractor sit back of the barn shed as we do not have a Quonset or covered

area.  Our rain water system is attached to the barn eavestrough into a white tank

then spills into large black water tub.

Those paddles we were not using.  We criss crossed them and stood them up here in our

back deck flower bed.

 Sept 15 and just taking pics

of my perennial favs.

All my plants in front yard came from 2 long time friends

so it is great to see them all doing well

they have been slow to take off but

now they are showing off!

 lady's mantle just started this year

young bachelor button started this year

 Phlox just blooming now

(I just love perennials!)

 filling in nicely

 delphiniums get so tall and I cut them down

and they grow back again

They also attract Hummingbirds and we had

twice as many hummingbirds this year (yay!)

morden centennial rose bush

only got a dozen roses or more but

I think I did not cut off all the dead stems

and pruning was not maybe correct last fall

so I am following this youtube video

this wheat grass is new this year

and it is a wonderful filler

it will get huge next year 

this peony is slow but it has only been

in the ground as a baby for one year

so next year hoping for a flower or two or more

this beautiful blue water can has served many purposes

it holds alot of water and easy to water plants with and

it is so decorative too!

if you like purple (just sayin')

I over purchased petunias and pansies this year

and I am loving that I did that now.  Purple in our garden and

in the flower beds.

this might be too much for some of you..(hee hee)

The 'man-about -the -house' is building a new front

step  and I have no idea

how it is going to look - (he has a plan, he has a plan!)

Can't wait to see the result, of course I help him along when he needs it and provide

lunches, coffee and water to sustain him.

mostly orange day lilies, 1 moss flox, 1 iris, 1 bachelor button, 1 lady's mantle

all new plants started last year and this spring

can't smell them quite yet but just noticed these

this morning, there are several dogwood lilac bushes

around our yard that are not in bloom yet

I have never had a Peony until now and hoping I can get
some flowers this year (please)

growing a little pumpkin

I have a pumpkin that is actually

showing it will be a pumpkin large

enough for fall; hopefully no frost

for awhile (crossing fingers)

it's so cute!

( love it when something makes me feel like a little kid !)

pot drama

end of August

sometimes means

potted plants need to

be dumped {unfortunately}

Some pots have

drama and character and personality

all in one.  I put these on my deck table and

really enjoying.....

it's a good thing

it has been a poor season for flowers and

garden but there are some successes...

it is a good thing I planted pumpkins because

they are such big plants and lots of blooms

I am excited!

 tomatoes are finally showing up

all the hay is brought in, stacked and covered

a few orange lilies bloom once in awhile

next to the roses I think this yellow lily is my favourite

it has finally bloomed

so many good things

it really is such a superb time of year!

My first rose bush planted 3 weeks ago and I see a bloom!

I was convinced to buy a couple of rose bushes 

I think I will like them!

My friend Gail was so gracious to donate some of

these plants here from her beautiful yard.

She also landscaped this area

and helped me plant it

(I was grateful)

I have not had bedding plants in my yard since

 Swift Current which is 4 years ago.

I was overwhelmed with this new property and

trying to figure out where to start bedding plants

around the house.  

So appreciate the greenery and a bit of flowering

showing now!
