My week of 63

My son (Tom) and I visited Gramma and Grampa on Friday.

They are both turning 90 years old this fall.

Birthday cake day at College Park.

Every Friday from 4 - 5 pm there is dancing with a keyboard player

and Tom and Gramma were rockin' it on the dance floor.

(Gramma has to watch her heart though, because she likes to move and jive!)

Gramma was sooooo happy her Grandson danced with her, because Grampa doesn't dance anymore!

Tom's budgies/parakeets!
I was attempting to teach them to say "hello" but they have not
spoken that word yet.  Actually I think they are scared of me.  Tom is their
Master and friend so he can pick them up and talk to them.

A new visitor came home yesterday.  His name is Midnight and he is a 3 year old Paint!

Hubby's friend Morley owns this little colt and he is letting Brian do some horsemanship training with him!  He is a cutie!

Also had a birthday lunch with my sister Barb and my friend Ilona
at Eastside Marios!  My niece Brenda was at this lunch too but I didn't get her in this photo.
I really enjoyed this time we had.

This is the end of my birthday week.  (I'm now 63)
I have connected with 3 really good friends this month.  Two from
Vancouver Island and this one in Regina.  I am very glad we can still
be friends and laugh and share the good and bad times.

Vancouver island and big city getaway adventures

we stayed at an Airbnb 2 blocks away from the Rogers Arena

in Vancouver for 2 nights.  We went to see PINK in concert.

Stanley Park visit

She sang and did her acrobatics around the

arena as she sang and performed steadily for 2 hours!

We then went to visit my very good friend since Grade 5, Sandy. She lives on

the island at Qualicum Beach

We did the Wonky Woods hiking trail

very interesting and funny 

 lots of skunk cabbage in these woods

and did alot of catching up since I saw her 6 years ago!

we visited the Northern Island Wildlife Recovery Centre

and I was really touched with this non-government funded

rescue place

  Eagles, falcons, ravens are injured by people shooting at their
wings and they are brought into the centre so they can survive until their
wings grow back.  Some stay forever depending on the injury,.

so they will not leave the recovery centre

We also stopped in at Nanaimo to see my friend
I met while in college in Saskatoon,  We have kept in
touch and I saw her 6 years ago as well.
She made me a quilt - I could not believe it! 

she got all my colours and she chose island blues and
gold and material her daughter brought back from Vietnam.  So lovely!

This was a great trip!  loved it and thanks to my friends for making

it so much fun.

Saskatoon horse eventing fun

Brian and I love this Saskatchewan horse event and this is our 4th year attending

and we think it is getting better and even bigger with larger audiences through the 4 day

show.

Friday morning we walked into the arena and these OTTB's were being warmed up

for their event.  Beautiful long legged horses and the riders in their black coats and

hats set it off.

We were positive this trainer would be the winner this year for the

4 day trainer challenge.  However, he did not win but I thought he

was awesome.

the 3 trainers had 4 hours (an hour each day)

to get their never ridden colts to ride through

the obstacle course at the finale!

There is an extra cowboy here?  Brian's friend Morley was there with us

to watch the events.

Jonathan Field working with a 6 year old who had a big issue moving/turning to the right 

Jonathan is a great trainer because he can connect in an entertaining but serious
manner to his audience and students to get his message across.  He is a huge successful horse clinician.

It was so fun and easy to travel with her!

we enjoyed our stay at the The Hilton Hotel and used the pool and outside

decks and we also walked around the downtown area and got to see

all the Comic Convention costumes that were walking down the street all the time

we were there.  I should of taken a pic of the Mad Hatter family walking down the street - very awesome costumes.

There will not be one next year to attend so hopefully in a couple of years she (Carol Tuttle) will put on another weekend retreat.
