a message was left on my desk when I came back from coffee today to go to the main floor reception. This is what was waiting for me from Brian {B}.
It was a hard working weekend for all and my main job was to feed our crew of friends. thank you...

grateful for my books I am reading and my camera. My little kodak keeps clicking pretty good pictures.

inspired by my Mom and Dad who turn 80 today and are still living out at their cabin at the lake. We are celebrating their birthdays' tonite at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina.
I want to be here at a place like this when I retire. It will happen. See that horse on the top of the hill. She stood there for the longest time. I knew it was a mare because a little colt came up beside after awhile.

you all have a great weekend now.....

yesterday, at lunch, under a tree....a midday nap and snack...just what I needed!

Ellie and Kalven-My Best Shot Monday

My neighbor Rena and her two children dropped in Saturday night. I had not seen Ellie and Kalven for quite some time. They flew into our house and were excited about our dog and especially our turtle. Oh…the turtle. I caught this photo while they both were on “summer’s” doggie bed. These young children take me back to sweet and special moments.

This is my “Best Shot Monday” . There are more best shots on Tracey Clark’s blog....check it out!

Style and Inspiration-TGIF

Trusting that my patience and prioritizing and communication skills can handle the office pressures and constant training that is required in my department at work in the next few months.

A little Diana Krall piped through my desktop would help {wouldn’t that be nice}
sometimes I am a huge fan of her music…. But mainly I am a fan of “who she is” that I love. I have listened to people interview her and I like the person…so of course I like the sad slow moody jazz beat and her classy low key appearance

Grateful for my power walks that I am doing and am able to keep doing due to our summer and soon fall season coming up, and the energy and calm focus it provides. I look rather funny when I am power walking…arms swinging, feet marching fast almost at a run but not quite..very effective for me and I only have to go for a 15 or 20 minute walk to get same benefits as a longer walk

Inspired by a book I ordered and when i read thru the first couple of sections I already know this book is going to do something for me. I am always rearranging or setting an ornament or inspired phrase somewhere on or above my desk. It is because I have to work in an environment that assists me in a way with my "style"...it is so important. Some of us go to serious lengths to have our environment inspire them, especially at home and at work. We need that.... Style Statement-Live by Your Own Design

Want to Know How I Am Doin'?

I am doing great. I agreed to my new food ACTR1UM which has no cornmeal in it. It took me awhile to slowly get used to it but now I eat it no problem.

I get my anti-inflammatory medicine for my arthritis 3 times a week and that is my favourite goodie because my owner puts the liquid into a shelled out hot dog..and I LOVE HOT DOGS!

I can still go for truck rides and sometimes I will go for a walk too. I sleep alot because well..I am getting older...and I sometimes need a little push to get up the house stairs and up into the truck. Having a pretty good summer and I still love to play "ball" which is really just a tug-of-war with my playmates because I don't like to let go of my ball {Hee!}

history + value + keepsake

This is an antique glass cologne/perfume decanter that I now have in my purse to take home and display somewhere in the house. We are hauling old furniture out of Grampa Kirk's apartment today and our trailer is ready to haul back to kirkville. I have cleaned out my china cabinet and replaced alot of my junky hand me downs and placed on each shelf my mother-in-law's "Royal Standard" fine bone china from England. Sometimes you start throwing old things out without thinking about it and this little antique was saying "take this home Donna".

Highfield Dam - My Best Shot Monday {night}

Only a few miles from our home is a reservoir, a very voluminous reservoir of water, which actually is a dam.

This is my best shot Monday. Driving along the Highfield Dam Road searchng for a good entry spot into the water with our aluminum friend, the canoe.

My boys used to fish along this dam. It wasn't until just this past July when I frequented once again to head to No. 1 East highway when Brian said "heh..why don't you try canoeing on that body of water"? and so we glided the canoe onto its waters in July and then again yesterday. Tom came with me this time and of course it was a “heavenly” experience of nature. Tom knew all the birds on the water and all the gulls noisily resting on the sandbanks and flying over our heads, the “grebes” nesting with their eggs right on the water. The water was crystal clear but very heavily weeded as is the "norm" for August.

I feel so balanced and joyful …it is a wonderful long lasting feeling. I have my own body of water to slip my canoe into when I am feeling disjointed and unsure.

TGIF tribute and accomplishment

IT'S FRIDAY and..I am TRUSTING the weather to provide what we need today...sunshine and rain. I want both!

Here is a tribute to my father-in-law Grampa Kirk.
Sir Wilford Hiram Kirk
February 18, 1918 - July 29, 2009 - aged 91 years.

{here he is playing cards at Christmas time 2008}

I am GRATEFUL to have been your daughter-in-law and thanking you for showing me how to "soldier" on in life.

I am INSPIRED by Tom's determination. He achieved this climb on the 2nd highest wall in Western Canada a couple of weeks ago. This climbing wall is in Regina at the Science Centre. Another goal has been accomplished.

a celebration of a good life

my father-in-law passed away on Wed July 29th and we are preparing the funeral services but I want it to be a celebration of his good life. I got this video from Brene Brown's blog. This is how I would like to begin Wilford Kirk's funeral on Monday afternoon. Sir Wilford Kirk was 91 years old. He led a good life and earned his title as Sir. He was knighted back in world war II by Queen Wilhimena (spelling?) of Holland.
