Summer and The Vet....

the big vet appt happened at 4:30 p.m. today...

Summer arrived safely and enjoyed his "favourite thing to do" a long ride into town in the box of the 3/4 ton....hair blowing in the wind...happy and carefree....
uh oh........the vet bldg....
he was quite nervous once he realized where he was {I'm at this place again!) and I had a little difficulty getting Summer out of the back; but just a few tugs once I clicked his leash on and a doggie treat helped...
waiting for the diagnosis {patiently I might add}. Summer has a bad case of Arthritis in his left hind hip joint and a special bag of dog food {the vet assures this dog food will help significantly as it is made especially for older big dogs} to try for 6 weeks. This dog food is expensive as it is loaded with 5 times the glucosomine and mixed with Omega 3 fatty acids and all that...yadayada.. a mere $102/bag.... Advil is not a good thing to give to dogs, cats or any animal {we knew that but it was only for a short few days}. This expensive bag of dog food will be his new food for life as he is "one of the family after all" {no difference between kids and dogs}

unloading back at home...

we made a special runway non slip mat {actually we just stapled my old purple yoga mat to the steps!} to help him get up these steps until his joints feel better.

Love you Summer, {Akbash dog and border collie cross,} you are our faithful guard dog and trusting companion!

Oh Summer! How lucky you are to have people who love and take care of you and will even staple an old yoga mat onto their wood floors so that the stairs will be easier for you to climb!!! Sweet! I totally get the 'money is no object' with our four legged friends! Yup...gotta' do it! I hope his new food helps him!
